Probably one of the most attacked elements of the Bible is the Exodus account of Israel’s escape from bondage in Egypt. The primary reason being that the event is difficult to place in the history of Egypt, which is entirely dependent upon when one looks, but even then matters get blurry.
Dr. Michael Heiser has recently began a study on the book of Exodus on his podcast, The Naked Bible, and has spent an episode unpacking the methodology employed in dating the Exodus as well as some of the issues as synchronization when it comes to the various chronologies. He also discusses why matters such as spelling and later updating of place names by scribes matter in such discussions and are often overlooked.
