Ever think about truth? I mean, what is truth? Is it objective or subjective? Is something true every time, in every instance?
I guess as this new year begins, it’s always good to ask certain questions to gauge how the mind is working, and these are just some of the questions that need to be asked.
What is truth? A statement that is true.
Is truth objective or subjective? Depends on the truth that is being examined. Gravity has the same effect on every person, that is an objective and verifiable truth. I prefer Mountain Dew over Mello Yello, that is a subjective truth that is only verifiable when you average out whichever soft drink I have consumed over my lifetime, or whichever I haven in my hand at the time.
Is something true every time in every sense? Again, it depends on what you are referring to. Normally, if a person were to jump out of an airplane at 15,000 feet, the fall would kill them. However, if they use a parachute, they can land safely. Does all truth work in this manner? Truth is based upon evidence and evidence upon reality. It is best to err on the side of caution and common experience rather than rush in headlong and discover a hidden truth.
Just something to think about.
