For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
What if you knew something was going to happen, but you didn’t know when, would you be afraid to talk about it?
Man, since being ejected from the Garden of Eden, has been looking for his savior. Eve misunderstood God and thought her firstborn after the fall was the one, and probably built his pride up to provoke his fall, his name says it all, “here he is”, but we know him as Cain, the one who murdered his brother. All throughout the bible, God foreshadowed the coming Messiah who would be the final savior, not only of Israel, but the whole world. He worked on that small nation, allowing them to wander and return. Then toward the end of the Davidic dynasty, in what remained of the of the once great nation of Israel, God’s Spirit moved on a man named Isaiah, and caused him to begin to describe the coming savior in great detail. This savior wouldn’t be a political savior, though he would be king. He wouldn’t need armies of men because his word decides battles. He was coming to take back what was his to begin with. What everyone had looked forward to since the Fall, came to pass. The child was born and laid in a manger. The Son was given to take away the sins of the world. Today we celebrate the coming of the God of very God into humanity, let us endeavor to spend the rest of our lives with him.
